Snuggles Stories

1. Lucky came to the shelter at about 6 weeks of age after having an unfortunate run in with a car fan belt. This loving young lady with lots of charm snuggled right up to the Snugglekittie and healing progressed as she relied on it for support. We’d often find her sitting on her haunches, leaning back against the snugglekittie looking like a plump little Buddha. She used the snugglekittie as a ramp into and out of the litter box from day one, eventually getting to the point of sliding on her belly down the snugglekittie, then throwing herself via her hind legs into our hand. Lucky healed, survived and was adopted to a loving home.

2. A feral cat with three tiny kittens was brought to the Shelter. The mother and one kitten died but Madison and Steele fought on. Though they now scramble all over their cage and eat very well, at first they clung to the Snugglekittie burrowing into her warm side and pressing to the beating heart.

3. Apollo, Ares and Artemis are the kitties of an inexperienced mother who needed help caring for them. Apollo suffered an unfortunate accident resulting in the need for special attention. When he was returned to his mother, she wasn’t accepting at first; the snugglekittie provided a much needed tie between mother and kitten. At this time, all three kittens are healthy, neutered, and awaiting adoption.

4. Animal Control is cleaning out some city feral groups. Over the past two days they have brought us 4 – three week old kittens that were very fussy. Placing the snugglekittie in the cage with them was a wonderful success. They pile onto it and do not move from it when we approach. As a result, we’ve been able to initiate hands on care much more quickly than usual.

5. Floppy was brought in alone. He is about 4 weeks old and loves people. He has some health issues so he cannot be placed in with other kittens yet. Floppy dearly loves his Snugglekittie, lying on it, pulling the ears and tail, and in general, treating the snugglekittie as mother and playmate.

6. A Pomeranian mix that came in as a stray was so stressed and fearful we were worried about him. We gave him a SnugglePuppie to comfort him and he calmed down almost immediately. It turns out he belongs to an older lady who is in the Homeless Shelter. She asked someone to take care of him, they pawned him off on someone else, and he got out. We sorted out everything and he'll be okay, but the SnugglePuppie sure helped him when he came in.
